"When I grow older, what will I be?
A doctor? A lawyer? Maybe, we'll see..."
"If I ever had a dream, (and it's often that I do)
I would dream of living a life that is full and all true."
"I want a job with purpose and meaning.
Something to live for, that's where I'm leaning."
"I'll climb to new heights! Beat the unbeatable!
(I only live once; it's not that repeatable.)"
"I'll discover the undiscovered! Fly to the moon!
Explore the ocean's bottom, (and do it real soon.)"
"When I look to the future, I see an endless blue sky.
Anything is possible; I can fly myself high!"
"With faith in my heart, I can do no wrong.
I'm sure I can soar, I just need to stay strong."
"My parents are hopeful but want to stay real:
'Listen to our words and not what you feel.'"
"My father would say, 'Study hard and get good grades.
Get into a good college and learn all the trades.'"
"My mother agreed, 'Hard work and education is the key.
With this in your life, you can be whoever you want to be.'"
"Who am I to argue? Where there's a will, there's a way.
It may not be true or false, but that's what they say."
"I guess if I were smarter, I could really achieve.
Learning success may not be so hard to believe."
"If I follow my parent's wishes, can I do what I please?
(Honoring my mother and father is really Chinese.)"
"In today's world, I know what most people want.
A job with wealth, prestige, and something to flaunt."
"Do I want a job that is hard and full of strife?
It may give riches, but is it a better life?"
"Some people walk down this path and suffer the result.
If they ever regret it, they're already an adult."
"If I do what my parents say, I know what that means.
Long nights and hard dedication, straight A's in my teens."
"I may not like it, but it does lead to good.
I only hope to end up somewhere I should."
"Some people choose wrong and get trapped in their fate.
It's not always their fault; it's such a sad state."
"For others, things just seem to fall into place.
They hit a home run and make it past fourth base."
"If I only follow my brain, I'll lose my heart.
If I only follow my heart, I won't be smart."
"Many people work just to survive.
They only do it to stay alive."
"Working this way, can I really enjoy?
Will my work create or will it destroy?"
"As I grow up, will I have room to dream?
I don't want to lose it. (Life's so extreme.)"
"Who should I listen to? What should I follow?
There's no real answer. I'll find out tomorrow."
"Whatever happens, I'll give it my best.
I may be cursed or I may end up blessed."
"I'll study my options and make a wise choice.
If everything goes well, I plan to rejoice!"
Jennie went to her room to move things along.
She chose a CD and played a nice song.
She lay on her bed and turned down the juice.
What did she select? Lullabies by Mother Goose.
"Row, row, row your boat, gently down the stream.
Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily, life is but a dream."
